Wendy’s multidisciplinary organic art brings together the beauty of many different natural elements to create stunning pieces.
As a multidisciplinary artist, the slow, methodical organic art processes of painting, botanical printing and dying, spinning, loom weaving, felting, stitching and basketry have kept Wendy constantly inspired and engaged with natural colour, the feel of textiles and natural materials, ancient processes and interactions between the community and environment.
Wendy draws influence from the second wave feminist art movement of the 1970’s, addressing issues of importance to women and honouring creative methods emerging from antiquity, and those associated with female creative traditions.
Currently studying ceramics, Wendy’s organic art focuses on using thrown ceramic forms with basketry techniques to create free-standing sculptures.
She also uses yarn in her artistic processes, including knitting, crochet, appliqué, weaving and basketry, and creates silk paper for use in many different art processes, including woven and basketry techniques.
